Overview

Quint Contemporary Art is pleased to announce "Brainwaves" an exhibition of neon work by Dutch artist Jan van Munster. The exhibition will be open to the public from September 17 through October 22 with a reception for the artist on September 17, 2005, from 6-8pm.

Jan van Munster's neon works address a theme theme that he has explored since the early 1960's: the concept of energy. Using the simplicity and universality of line as the most basic form for conveying visual language, van Munster investigates the polar qualities of neon in "Brainwaves". As a medium that is both cold and hot, kinetic and static, light and dark, van Munster manipulates the neon to achieve a balance between opposing forces.

Mr. van Munster studied at the Academy of Visual Arts, Rotterdam and the Institute of Applied Arts, Amsterdam. He has exhibited work in galleries and museums internationally for over four decades.
