This book exploits the fact that any attempt at faithfully reproducing Pedaling in Sauerkraut will fail. Instead, a decidely low-fidelity approach is taken by presenting details of the painting using only black ink on uncoated paper.

 

Furthermore, presenting black-and-white details of the painting forces a consideration of the numerous micro- compositions found throughout the macro compositions in Pedaling in Sauerkraut.
