Pedestrians stay on the sidewalk,

Claustrophobia,

Stay in Lines

Overflowing into the streets...”

Quint Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition and installation by San Francisco-based artist Lee Materazzi. This is Quint’s fourth solo presentation of photography by Materazzi and second project that includes interactive installation art. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, May 20th from 6-8pm and is open to the public.

Lee Materazzi’s new series began with an exploration of public spaces around San Francisco. In past series Materazzi has explored everything from the interior of the home to what lies beneath a person’s attire and ultimately their consciousness. Sculptural in nature, the photographs are representations of landscapes with discreet manipulations made by the artist using her body, found objects and cut paper. Materazzi’s photographs illuminate certain aspects of the space (Tree, Curve), block the way (Swings, Paper Leaves) or play with an existing structure (Garages, Rainbow). The installation will include the original swings and paper leaves incorporated into the exhibition.

Materazzi studied sculpture at Central St. Martins in London. Materazzi’s work has been shown in several group and solo presentations in the United States and Europe. The work is featured in numerous private and museum collections. Materazzi lives and works in San Francisco.
